Trucrete Celebrates World Day for Safety & Health at Work: Mental Health Safety

To mark the 2025 World Day for Safety and Health at Work, Trucrete Solutions decided to spotlight an often-overlooked aspect of workplace safety: mental health.
In partnership with healthcare provider Reliance HMO, Trucrete hosted a company-wide town hall focused on mental wellbeing. The session brought together employees from across departments for an open and practical conversation about stress, burnout, and support systems at work.
The event was facilitated by a licensed mental health expert who shared tools and techniques to help employees recognise early signs of burnout, manage workplace stress, and create healthier emotional boundaries. The session also included tips on how to check in on colleagues and build a more empathetic work culture.
While safety boots and site inspections remain essential in the construction industry, Trucrete says this year’s focus was intentionally different. The goal was to make it clear that safety is not just about physical protection, but about creating an environment where people can thrive emotionally and mentally, too.
Temitope Olusesi, Head of Human Resources at Trucrete, explained the thinking behind the initiative.
“For a long time, workplace safety has been defined in terms of hard hats and hazard signs. But psychological safety is just as important,” said Temitope. “Mental health challenges are real, and in a fast-paced industry like ours, it’s important to prioritise, support, and educate. This session is just the beginning.”
Employees who attended the town hall described it as impactful, noting how the facilitator created an open atmosphere that encouraged honest reflection. For many, the most useful insights were the small but powerful changes they could make immediately, like learning to take short breaks, being more aware of emotional triggers, or checking in with teammates beyond work tasks.
World Day for Safety and Health at Work is recognised globally every April 28 to promote the prevention of occupational accidents and diseases. As the nature of work evolves, companies like Trucrete are recognising that true safety includes mental and emotional wellbeing, not just physical precautions.
With the success of this town hall, Trucrete is exploring new ways to keep wellbeing top of mind all year round. Plans include regular health talks, mental health check-ins, and equipping team leads with tools to better support their teams.
By creating space for conversations like these, Trucrete is setting a new standard for workplace safety, one that recognises that a healthy workforce starts from the inside out.
